Linda Cernik

Appointed Governor

Hello, my name is Linda Cernik and I have just recently joined the governing body of GPA. My career in education began with teaching French and German in secondary schools, followed by two years teaching a range of subjects to Home and Hospital students. I finally settled in Gurney Pease as a(n?) HLTA, where I have loved teaching French in KS2 for the 16 years leading to my retirement in 2022. I missed the staff and pupils so much I have continued to visit on a weekly basis.
In my spare time, I am an active member of Kings Church, volunteering in midweek groups – adults this time!

I also enjoy reading, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, cinema and theatre.

I have 11 grandchildren, only 3 of whom live in Darlington, so I have to travel further afield to visit the other 8, including 2 in Dubai! Thank goodness for Zoom!
